As fashion week departs the Italian city for the buttery, croissant-lined streets of Paris, we can take a moment to look back on all of the beauty moments that were. In short, Milan Fashion Week was a hodgepodge of hair and makeup, but the commonality was that it was maximalist and interesting. There was oxblood lipstick, glitter, arcs of electric orange above the eye, floral arrangements, and washes of zingy, Kendall-esque lime. It was a swift departure from the nude skin of season’s past (we still see you, Bottega, but all is forgiven because, well, Bottega), meaning a lot of fun for those of us that are beauty-inclined. Baby Bella doesn’t look so baby-faced with a swipe of blood red across her lips at Max Mara. Paired with dark eyes and the lilac cap, it’s a little excessive Madonna in the 80s, but we’re huge fans. If a dark lip is in your makeup MO, be sure to set boundaries with a dark, waxy liner to avoid bleeding.
Ahh Moschino. Where makeup dreams come true. From the razor-thin liner to the artful brush strokes in the hair, it’s a masterpiece.
Whether a sartorial Fendi statement or just a means to an end for hiding supermodel circles, glitter under the eyes is one makeup hack we’re here for. Toughen it up with gritty black liner and shaggy hair.
Sherbet hues are everywhere at the minute, including in the crease at Versace. Go for a highlighter shade of acidic orange and paint a perfect half-circle. A dusting of glitter keeps it disco. The only thing that outshone this shadow was JLO in that dress.
Flip the Fendi and press translucent sequins above the eye, à la Giorgio Armani. If you’re finding it hard to blink, opt for a smaller embellishment and secure with a bit of clear lash glue.
Beauty bloomed in the form of flowers at Missoni. Equal parts Woodstock and forest chic, it’s a simple way to breathe new life into an undone undo.
Lime is the colour of the season, and Peter Pilotto colour-blocked the hue to perfection, as seen above. It’s tricky to get right as far as makeup is concerned, so pair with clear, fresh skin and little else. If the eyes feel too bold, opt for a splice-coloured manicure instead.
