Arriving at the wedding of her close friend Misha Nonoo in Rome yesterday, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, looked every bit the princess in a $US 14,000 ($AUD 20,700) Valentino gown. A gauzy black confection with beading that looked like hundreds of tiny fairy lights, the dress literally glowed and so did Meghan, in warm natural makeup and with her hair in an artfully messy chignon.
Nonoo is a Bahrain-born fashion designer who reportedly was the one to set Meghan up with Harry, though Nonoo has never confirmed it. Nonoo also collaborated with Meghan on her new fashion charity line, Smart Works, which was launched last week in London and attended by Nonoo.
Nonoo was born in London to an Iraqi father and English mother, grew up in England and moved to New York in 2008 to launch her eponymous fashion line.
Her circle of influence is wide and impressive — other attendees at the star-studding wedding yesterday included Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, James and Julia Corden and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
Nonoo tied the knot to Michael “Mikey” Hess, an American energy entrepreneur and oil heir.
Like Nonoo, Hess has many friends in high places. His 30th birthday bash in the Hamptons featured performances by Nelly, Taylor Swift and Leslie Odom, Jr, and he’s very close with Heidi Klum.
Hess and Nonoo looked splendid attending Harry and Meghan’s wedding last year, now Meghan and Harry have returned the favour ahead of their 10-day tour of South Africa with Archie, which kicks off on Monday.
Karlie Kloss also attended the wedding in a sexy black Zac Posen gown with a thigh-high slit.
Katy Perry continued her recent penchant for demure dressing, this time in a pink tulle gown from Bardot.
