While it may not be tradition for the bride to speak at her own wedding, we are now well-accustomed to the idea that Meghan Markle – Duchess of Sussex – is here to shake the Palace up. At her wedding reception on the evening of May 19 – an event held in front of 200 guests at Frogmore House in England – Markle stood to make a speech.

According to US Weekly, Markle, 36, was teary-eyed as she spoke about her mother Doria Ragland. “She said, ‘You have always been there for me through everything,’” the insider paraphrases, noting that the bride did not mention her father, Thomas Markle, who was unable to attend due to reportedly undergoing recent heart surgery.

The publication also said Markle thanked Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles for being amazing hosts. But when it came to speaking about Harry, 33, the Suits alum saved the best for last. She reportedly said she knew he was The One as soon as they met and said he was worth the wait and that she loved him with all of her heart.

“Meghan has handled things with grace and dignity. [He said] that he can’t wait for them to be a team,” another source previously told Us.

Everyone reportedly clinked their glasses every time Harry referred to Meghan as his wife.
