Imagine going to work every day with someone and then, in 18 months, they are set to become the newest princess in the Commonwealth. Such is set-life for the Suits stars Patrick J Adams, Gabriel Macht and Sarah Rafferty who every day for seven years ran lines with Meghan Markle in the back of film trailers in Toronto.

Just like the rest of the world, they were ecstatic to learn of Markle’s engagement to Prince Harry and sent their well-wishes across the seas via Twitter. But it was Adam’s response that had us laughing. Playing Markle’s on-screen boyfriend-come-fiancé Mike Ross, viewers became heavily invested in his relationship with the beautiful paralegal Rachel Zane. (This editor was even a little bit miffed when Adams married longtime girlfriend Pretty Little Lies actress Troian Bellisaro.)

“She said she was just goin out to get some milk…,” Adams posted to Twitter. He quickly followed up with: “Playing Meghan’s television partner for the better part of a decade uniquely qualifies me to say this: Your Royal Highness, you are a lucky man and I know your long life together will be joyful, productive and hilarious. Meghan, so happy for you, friend. Much love.”

Macht – who plays powerhouse Harvey Specter – sent his well wishes too. “Congrats to @meghanmarkle and Prince Harry. Sending all my best for your upcoming nuptials and a long happy life together. #love” as did Markle’s close friend and co-star Sarah Rafferty who plays Donna. “Sending congratulations and wishes for every blessing across the pond today.”

Even Markle’s TV dad, Wendell Pierce, sent his loving approval to the Prince. “Congratulations to my TV daughter Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on the news of their wedding engagement. Harry, you have her TV Father’s blessing. Robert Zane approves.”

Markle filmed her final scenes of Suits – the end of season seven – and it’s been confirmed her contract will not be renewed for season eight as she settles into life at Kensington Palace.
