All has been relatively quiet on the royal front this past week after a whirlwind start to 2020 when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle dropped the bombshell that they were stepping back as senior royals and moving to Canada. But behind the scenes, pieces are still quietly being moved around in order to fit with the Sussexes new life, including the couple being stripped of another title, something which reportedly left them “shocked.”

To recap, Meghan and Harry will no longer be referred to with ‘HRH’ in front of their titles, but they do get to continue on as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. However, apparently, they don’t get to continue being Commonwealth Youth Ambassadors, a position which was reportedly very important to them.

According to a report from TMZ, Meghan and Harry were “shocked” when they were informed they had to forgo their roles as ambassadors to the Commonwealth and apparently didn’t even realise their ambassadorships were “on the table.”

But, per the report, “the Queen drew a hard line in the sand, and they had to surrender the role.”

According to another report, Prince Charles and Prince William have been “reaching out” with “love and affection on standby” and have made it clear that Meghan and Harry are welcome back to the UK whenever, even if they don’t return to royal duties.

Senior royals are also said to be making contingency plans for the Sussexes, in case their new life in Canada doesn’t go to plan. “The palace is very worried about the Sussexes because they are vulnerable outside the embrace of the family,” sources who spoke to The Sunday Times (via The Express) said.

“They are making contingency plans in case the Sussexes suddenly turn round and say: ‘Can we come back under your wing?’ This is a looking ahead thing. There’s no timeline here. But everybody agrees that this is a fragile couple. Nobody is going to say, no they can’t come back.”
