Overnight, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made their first public appearance since the Duchess of Sussex gave birth to her second child, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Ahead of the couple’s appearance at Global Citizen Live in Central Park on Saturday, the Royal couple were seen en route to meet with Mayor Bill de Blasio and his family to visit the 9/11 memorial.

Markle’s first ensemble comprised of a black turtleneck top, wide-legged pants, woollen coat and black high heel pumps. She was later spotted attending a meeting at the UN and wore a black knee length dress, camel coat and clutched a tan Valextra purse. Given this is just day one, we expect many more chic appearances to come.

According to Page Sixthe Duke and Duchess of Sussex checked into Princess Diana’s favourite New York City hotel, the Carlyle. The late Princess would often stay in the 1,800-square-foot Royal Suite on the 22nd floor. Prince William and Kate Middleton also stayed in the Royal Suite during their trip to Manhattan in 2014.

The couple haven’t publicly commented on their stay in NYC at length but in answering a reporter’s question on how she was enjoying the trip thus far, Markle responded, “It’s wonderful to be back, thank you.”

Earlier this week the couple announced they would attend Global Citizen Live from Central Park “to continue their urgent work with world leaders in the pursuit of global vaccine equity to end the COVID-19 pandemic for everyone, everywhere.”

Friends of the couple told Page Six that the Royals “can’t wait to explore the Big Apple in the ‘romantic fall.’”

It is unknown if their children, Archie and Lili, accompanied them.
