Meghan Markle and Prince Harry did not come to play in 2020. The couple started the year by dropping a huge bombshell on not only the public, but the royal family too, when they revealed their decision to step back as senior royals and split their time between the UK and Canada.
After a few days of deliberation following the Sandringham Summit, the Queen posted a statement on Saturday, confirming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will drop their ‘HRH’ titles, pay back the money used to refurbish their Frogmore Cottage home and will no longer be able to represent the monarchy. They will, however, keep their patronages and associations.
With all of this going on, one has to wonder how Meghan and Harry are faring, especially given that the scrutiny surrounding them – something that’s worse than ever in the wake of their decision – was one of the reasons for their shock decision. The Queen even referenced the link in her statement when she wrote, “I recognise the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life.”
Thankfully, according to someone who occasionally talks with Meghan’s mum, Doria Ragland, the duchess is going to be just fine.
The source said that Ragland told them “Meghan is strong and will always be okay.” She also added that her grandson, Archie, is “the cutest.” Something you do not need to tell us twice:
It’s still unclear where in Canada Meghan and Harry are going to live, however, Meghan is currently back on Vancouver Island with Archie, where the couple spent several weeks over the holiday season with Ragland.
According to the BBC, thanks to the recent updates, the island is currently swarming with British press.
