When it comes to my beauty routine, I’m all about multitasking. Between working from home and winter nights in, my days of wearing a full face of makeup are few and far between. Instead, I’ve found myself gravitating towards skincare that doubles as makeup.

After turning 30 last year, I’ve been focusing less on makeup and more on the products that go underneath it. So, when I come across a product that promises all the benefits of my regular go-to hydrating serums and moisturisers, with added glow as a bonus feature, of course I’m going to start paying attention.

Earlier this year, Mecca launched its very own Mecca Cosmetica Weekend Skin Glow Serum. And it’s safe to say I’m in love.

The serum’s ingredients list reads like a who’s who of the skincare game, featuring hyaluronic acid (of course), vitamin E, squalane, and jojoba oil – an addition I’m particularly excited about. I’ve long sworn by the benefits of jojoba oil, which works to prepare and protect our skin’s moisture barrier, often upset by our over-use of active skincare and harsh exfoliants.

Alongside a bunch of skincare benefits, the serum also works to brighten the skin in the same way an illuminating primer or highlighter would. In fact, the product can also be applied to the high points of the face (think: your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, and along your brow bone) for added glow.

Personally, I’ve been applying the product as the final step in my skincare routine over my SPF, as recommended, and just leaving things there.

As I said, I love a multitasking product and this one has swiftly come to replace my tinted skin products I would normally reach for when I’m having a no-makeup-makeup day.
