With a painterly splash or a streamlined aesthetic – unleash you inner wild child or neat-freak.

Maximalism
Beauty’s modus operandi: right now, anything goes. Blame Mr. Michele at Gucci, but the all-encompassing, all pervasive, hyper-real world of maximalism is nowhere near recoiling into its vast and colourful hole. So, the show must go on. Draw the curtain and impress the critics with tactile pleasures and fancy finishes. Stretch your mind out in spatial choices, draw outside the lines and play with ingenuous glee. A beautiful mash-up, a hot-mess, it’s art – but beautified. Your highlighter is hued, your flush bold and your contour mysterious. Coloured strobe in peach, dabs of Turkish delight jelly, shooting glitter-balls, even a little (safe) ultraviolet light on your high points. The new trend for highlighting? Sweep atop eyebrows, not under – we aren’t playing by banal beauty rules here. Coverage should be punchy and perky, rendered in ‘80s pinks and Revolution reds to make Molly Ringwald and Marie Antoinette blush. Have your cake, throw it around. Eat it, too. For those who devour their beauty with a big salacious bite, dig in.

Minimalism
Straight has always been an insult to you. Yes, you may stay within the lines, but your execution is refined, polished, practised – always. It’s a step back to simplicity; this is all about honing your skills. The simple things needn’t be boring, but their articulation must be precise. Be fluent with your brush, or sponge, and use slow, sweeping strokes and a measured bounce – buffing is the key to a killer canvas. The closest you’ll get to saucy? Getting cushy with a cushion – Giorgio Armani is your kind of guy – sheer, sexy with just the right amount of coverage. Most importantly, let it breath. It’s that no makeup-makeup – a game of symmetries and linearity and hide and seek (with not much seek). Stay in your box, and keep it neat. Graceful. Chic. You always were a classy girl.
