A celebration of both heritage and modernity, the capsule comprises not only 20 pre-collection pieces from Autumn / Winter 19 but an early delivery of the 1969 anniversary chainmail bag. An inspired take on an icon, the 1969 chainmail bag bridges past and present with a contemporary adaptation rich in nostalgia and of course, that signature Rabanne glamour.
Assembled by hand, the bag is the ultimate expression of Paco Rabanne; avant garde at its conception 50 years ago and yet still so timelessly modern today, it’s truly the greatest sartorial symbol of the house. Breaking free of the stylistic straight jacket of stiff 1960s fashion with its use of metal instead of fabric, its ritzy chainmail defied the traditional codes of the era forging its own path of radical modernity and daring sensuality, redefined by Dossena in this exclusive collection.
Along with early pre-delivery online, the capsule is also being celebrated on the ground in London with an interactive installation at 5 Carlos Place – the physical outpost of Matchesfashion.com. An immersive journey into the glamorous world of Paco Rabanne; customers are invited to enter the Chainmail Cube, an experience which plays with light, reflection and movement through both digital and mirrored elements, an artistic homage to its classic hardware. While the AW19 Twist features an organic environment articulated with films representing the landscapes of David de Beyter and digital tutorials on LED screens explaining how to wear and style the exclusive pieces.
