The old maxim, dress for the job you want, not the job you have, is in need of a minor adjustment. How does, dress for the home you want, not the home you have, sound?

If the thought of embellishing your living quarters doesn’t send you reeling, chances are you have experienced the power of homewares to transform your drab rental or hard-won fixer-upper into something extraordinary. After all, the wellspring of inspiration for how we style our lives has never been more abundant, and the pressure to curate an interior as enviable as a dream wardrobe as never felt more pressing (it’s real, regardless of whether you subscribe to that school of thought or not).

Blame it on your Instagram feed. The delineation of the private and personal spheres means that no longer are we only opening our wardrobes to the following throng with every carefully curated ensemble we don, but the proliferation of enviable interiors necessitates that our homes now dress the part too. Recognising the demand for 360 lifestyling, beloved e-tailer Matches Fashion today launched its first homewares studio: a hyper-curated offering encompassing all the designer throws, cushions, tabletop accoutrements and pyrotechnics that you could ever hope to wile away the hours shopping (or ‘wish-listing’).

For those who have long coveted the Pendleton blankets Raf Simons sent out at Calvin Klein 205W39NYC for Spring 2018 (guilty), the wait is over. They’re to be found alongside the homewares of other established luxury brands like Gucci, (whose singular homewares invite complete remodelling fantasies), Maison Margiela, Loewe and homewares stalwart Missoni. Those titans of designer homewares also share space with emerging designers, like British design’s boy wonder Luke Edward Hall, whose ceramics double as a canvas for his hand-painted illustrations of classical sculpture, flora, fauna and one very bombastic slogan (“VICTIM OF LOVE”). Also of note, the perfectly washed out tones of Once Milano’s table linens; the haute parfumerie of Cire Trudon; and the luscious palette and Modernist crockery of the Copenhagen-based brand, Raawii. Like Matches Fashion’s ready-to-wear offering, the homewares studio will also seek to expose shoppers to exciting and exclusive new talents, like Kilometre Paris’s collection of embroidered tea towels, cushions and aprons that double as postcards from exotic climes (each is embroidered by region-specific female artisans).
