The very first luxury fragrance I ever owned was Marc Jacobs Daisy. It was a Christmas gift from my Dad when I was 14 years old. Obviously, he had caught wind of my wish list, because my Dad – while the sweetest man I’ve ever known – is not particularly adept at gift giving (I’ve got a stash of board games and bath bombs to prove it). At the time, the original Daisy had recently launched, and I was enamoured with everything it represented: the innocence, the prairie dresses in the video campaign, but most importantly the vessel that encapsulated the fragrance. It was a weighty bottle with an oversized bouquet of daisies on the lid. It was fun and beautiful and nostalgic – and to 14-year-old me, it was perfect. Now, the white floral juice smells like Christmas morning: breakfast and a swim at the beach, gifts, family, food, and my darling dad.
Some 12 years later, Marc Jacobs Daisy is still an olfactive soft spot; a tug on my heart strings. And the joyous part is that the Daisy family has done nothing but expand its reach ever since. There’s new scents, new ways of wearing, and new notes that resonate with me now, while still delighting the version of me that tore open a box of Marc Jacobs Daisy that Christmas morning. The original and one of my favourites, Daisy is dreamy, light-hearted mix of white florals and sandalwood. It’s innocent, fresh, and always solicits a smile, both from the wearer, and those who walk through its cloud. Not to mention for me, a sentimental signature.

I was the proud owner of Daisy Dream too the moment it launched. The 70s style daisy-bottle was one thing, but the fruity juice inside was something else entirely.
