Today, Louis Vutton marks a new chapter in their olfactory narrative; the debut of Le Jour Se Lève. A fragrance of unbridled optimism, Le Jour Se Lève captures afresh the scent of summer, namely two of its seasonal proponents – mandarin and jasmine.
For Louis Vuitton Master Perfumer, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, it all began with one of his favourite ingredients – the mandarin – a fruit typically gorged under the summer sun, juicy, tart and sweet. “Mandarin is a marvellous citrus fruit because it’s possible to diffuse from it simultaneously the optimism of its flesh, the freshness of the zest and the floral aspect of the tree,” notes the perfumer. Ever the visionary, he took the classic citrus note and defied expectation, “unlike other citruses, the mandarin doesn’t reference the structure of Cologne,” says Belletrud.
To add backbone to the scent, he then engaged Jasmine Sambac from China – the light-filled floral redolent of balmy mornings (and a signature note in the Louis Vuitton scent stable) – it was tempered with a liquid impression to mimic mist settling over the jasmine, dewy and delicate. Tangy blackcurrant, white magnolia and apricot-tinged osmanthus round out the accord; crisp, punchy and full of life.
A scent to capture both the bliss and comfort of summer; the essence of the sun’s first rays, the refraction of raw light at daybreak, sparkling citrus softening in the heat, Le Jour Se Lève is an uplifting scent to inspire its wearer to rise early and set out for new horizons. Smelling wonderfully, of course
