It’s been four years since her last album, but Lorde is back with new music, and an Australian tour lined up for 2022.

In February, the songstress will take her Solar Power tour through her homeland of New Zealand before flying to Australia in March 2022. Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth can expect to be graced with the popstar’s soaring vocals before her she heads to Europe, the UK and North America.

After teasing new music earlier this month, Lorde released the first single off her upcoming record. Sharing its title with the album, “Solar Power” surged straight to the charts and into fans’ pandemic-addled brains.

The hotly anticipated third studio album is pitched to be heavily inspired by our natural environment. Lorde says, “The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalising the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors. In times of heartache, grief, deep love or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learnt to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through.”

Lorde hasn’t taken her homage to nature lightly, announcing that the new album will not be available on CD, but rather as a “Music Box” – an eco-friendly alternative. There will also be a personal element as each Music Box will include handwritten notes, photographs, and bonus content.

She told Billboard, “I decided early on in the process of making this album that I also wanted to create an environmentally kind, forward-thinking alternative to the CD. I wanted this Music Box product to be similar in size, shape and price to a CD, to live alongside it in a retail environment, but be something which stands apart and that’s committed to the evolving nature of a modern album.”

The album is slated for release on August 20, while tickets to the Solar Power tour will be on sale to the general public at 12 noon on Monday 5 July from Ticketmaster.
