If you’ve been pondering on the biggest hair trend of 2022, bangs, this is your sign to take the chop (by a professional of course). This week Lily James became the next famous face to try curtain bangs and debuted the new look – alongside a fresh colour – on Instagram. The actress is on tour through France and shared a new picture of her undone waves to Instagram.

It is a far cry from the actress’ natural hair, a dreamy mop of blonde ringlets. It’s also a departure from her Pam & Tommy on-screen alter ego where the star war a multitude of bleach blonde wigs. Even before the series she was regularly seen with caramel highlights. James debuted a dark brunette hue on the Met Gala red carpet in May where she wore a purple Versace gown and wet-look hair.

Since appearing on the cover of Variety and The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month, it seems she has opted for an even darker colour. Who says you should go lighter for summer?

James will face her next hair transformation soon, with the 33-year-old reportedly set to portray the late model Anna-Nicole Smith in an upcoming biopic. According to the Daily Mailthe film is being created by two “best friends” of the model who have reached out to the actress to potentially play the star. If the film was to go ahead, she would see a transformation similar to Pamela Anderson.

From the polarising wolf cut, blunt edges, 70s bangs to the curtain fringe, this season is all about experimenting with our hair. If you’re not keen on the more permanent look, take cue from Emily Ratajkowski who seemingly wore a clip-in fringe at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival last month.
