They make a somewhat unlikely couple, but as of the weekend, it’s Instagram official — Lily Allen and David Harbour are a thing.

Harbour, best known for his role as Jim Hopper in the Netflix series Stranger Things, made his Saturday Night Live hosting debut on Saturday night, and Allen was there to support him, even spotted leaving the show alongside Harbour’s family.

Harbour played an overzealous SoulCycle instructor on SNL and wore shorts and a sleeveless athletic top, revealing a muscly pair of arms.

During the show, Allen posted a closeup of Harbour’s bicep on her Instagram stories with the caption, “Mine”.

On Sunday afternoon, the couple stepped out in New York for a spot of shopping in Soho. Both were dressed casually, with Allen pairing wide-leg jeans with a grey turtleneck and trainers (and a Chanel handbag). Harbour draped his arms around the singer and kissed her on the cheek as they strolled around the city.

Their relationship comes after Allen split from grime rapper MC Meridian Dan in January this year. The pair dated for around three years following Allen’s separation from her ex-husband Sam Cooper. Cooper and Allen started dating in 2009, wed in 2011 and split in 2016. Their divorce was finalised a year ago. Cooper and Allen share joint custody of their two daughters Ethel, seven, and Marnie, six, and have an amicable relationship, she says.

At the time Allen split from Dan, the singer, now 34 said, ‘I’m single, for the first time since I was about 15.”

‘It’s been bad news after bad news and the fact that I haven’t called him [Dan] and been like, “Can you come round for a cuddle?” is big for me,’ she said.

‘Ordinarily, when things get difficult I do need to have somebody around to share those problems with. The fact that I’m dealing with them on my own means I’m growing up!’

Allen and Harbour were first spotted out together on a theatre date in London’s West End in August. Harbour ended a longterm relationship with Fantastic Beasts star Alison Sudol earlier this year.
