Kylie Jenner knows her life looks pretty damn covetable on Instagram.
So she’s following in the footsteps of celebrities like Olivia Culpo, at least it appears, and reminding the public that things aren’t as “perfect” as they seem online.
In an uncharacteristically personal post on Instagram on Wednesday, Jenner wrote:
“I’m proud of myself, my heart, and my strength. Growing up in the light with a million eyes on you just isn’t normal,” she said.
“I’ve lost friends along the way, and I’ve lost myself too sometimes,” she continued, one of the “lost friends” no doubt being Jordyn Woods.
“My first tattoo was ‘sanity’ to remind myself [every day] to keep it,” her post continued.
The 21-year-old, a mother of one and head of her own beauty empire, revealed that after struggling with anxiety as a young adult, it flared up again after her daughter’s birth.
“I’ve struggled with anxiety my whole young adult life and after my baby I dealt with all the internal ups and downs,” she said. “I felt like I had to find myself completely again.”
Because it’s always worth remembering we usually only see snippets of a person’s life on their social media accounts, Jenner said:
“I keep a whole lot to myself but just wanted to share and let you know I’m human.
“My life is not perfect,” she continued, “and what you see here on social media is just the surface. Be gentle with yourself, move on, and let go. We are all capable of great things, worthy of love, and allowed to express ourselves. Do more of what makes you happy and be unapologetic. Now is your season. We all have a magnificent destiny.”
The arguably self-made billionaire’s note comes after Olivia Culpo opened up about struggling with depression while “pretending everything was fine” online.
