Kylie Jenner was 18 the first time anyone had directly asked her about altering her appearance. But it’s believed the first time she changed her complexion was months before.
It was a saga widely documented on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, with the now 25-year-old blatantly denying that she underwent any procedure (both surgical and non-invasive) to achieve her now-synonymous full pout. The years that followed were marred by online vitriol espousing that Jenner had a myriad of surgeries to achieve her perfectly plumped visage.
Now, on the season three finale of The Kardashians, Jenner has candidly opened up, revealing (or confirming, depending on your viewpoint) for the first time that she underwent a breast augmentation at 19. A procedure she’s since gone onto regret.
Speaking to her best-friend Anastasia Karanikolaou, Jenner explained that welcoming her first-born, four-year-old Stormi Webster, made her rethink a lot of the choices she made as a teenager, citing that the thought of her daughter altering her body so young would make her “heartbroken”.
“You know I got my breasts done before Stormi,” Jenner casually explained on camera, referring to the plastic surgery. “I had beautiful breasts, like natural tits. Sat perfectly—just gorgeous. Like, perfect size, perfect everything,” the beauty mogul continued. “I just wish obviously I never got them done to begin with.”
The reality star then went on to explain her reasoning for regretting the procedure, imploring anyone who was considering the surgery to wait until having a child (if that’s something they’re considering) before going under the knife. “I would recommend anyone who is thinking about it to wait until after children,” Jenner mused. “Obviously, I have a daughter, too, I would be heartbroken if she wanted to get her body done at 19.”
Jenner continued to add that she feels like getting her breasts augmented so young has questioned whether she’s a good role model to Stormi. “She’s [Stormi] the most beautiful thing ever, I wanna be the best mom and best example for her and I just wish I could be her and do it all differently, because I wouldn’t touch anything,” Jenner noted.
The revelation comes after Jenner discussed her family’s role in setting beauty standards with her sister’s Kourtney and Khloé, during the penultimate episode of The Kardashians. “All of us just need to have a bigger conversation about the beauty standards that we’re setting,” Jenner mentioned, adding, “I just think we have huge influence. And what are we doing with our power?”
Jenner has also previously remarked that seeing Stormi inherent her features that she was previously insecure about has made her feel more confident in herself. “[Motherhood has] made me love myself more. I see my features in my daughter and my son now, but you know, my daughter looks like me. I get to see my beauty in her, and it’s made me love myself more for sure,” she explained in an interview with HommeGirls.
Could this mean that Jenner is prioritising transparency over influence when it comes to the beauty standards she’s setting? It’s hard to tell given the fact she hasn’t disclosed what other treatments she’s received while still pandering beauty products to us. But, we’d prefer an honest conversation over deceit and denial any day.
