To watch Kristen Bell and husband Dax Shepard in an interview together is what the internet (too repetitively) refers to as “relationship goals”; joking, laughing and (seemingly) even more carefree than Chrissy and John if that is even possible. Their relationship, in fact, seems so good it makes any person take a deep nose dive into their own mind and question their own romantic couplings. But as Bell recently revealed, it wasn’t all smooth sailing during the first twelve months and the pair, like regular people, fought about menial things. This particular argument took place while the couple were on a motorcycle.

“We were fighting about the first year of our relationship because it’s a power struggle,” she told EW. “And we were fighting about the playlist and I got so mad at him at one point that I refused to hold onto him. So I was on the back and just held onto the [bike] because I didn’t want to touch him.”

Now, the couple who are happily married with two young children – two-year-old Delta and three-year-old Lincoln – say if there ever is so much as an eye roll to the other person, they “hit pause and figure out what’s going on”. Bell also openly admits to seeking therapy when they needed it.

We have a very healthy marriage and we got there by doing therapy when we needed it, and constantly doing fierce moral inventories,” she said. “We both take responsibility when we are wrong, and I think it is easy to work with him because I married him, because I enjoy spending time with him and I trust him. That is exactly what I want in someone that I work with.”

“I don’t mind advertising a healthy marriage. I’m trying, just like everyone else.”
