Over the weekend, Kanye West engaged in a lot of online discourse about Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian’s relationship. Taking to Instagram, the rapper posted an image of himself out for dinner with Davidson, Kid Cudi and Timothee Chalamet from 2019, covering Davidson’s face with a large red cross emoji as he publicly distanced himself from Cudi. He then created a collage showing himself and Davidson on opposing Marvel Universe teams, with Davidson’s made up of Kardashian, Kid Cudi, Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, who I’m guessing would very much like to be excused from this narrative.

Despite the drama, Kardashian and Davidson are still going strong with Davidson declaring they’re at boyfriend-girlfriend status during an interview last week. Ahead of Valentine’s Day, the duo stepped out in New York City holding hands, simultaneously proving opposites do, indeed, attract through their style.

Kardashian kept up her theme of wearing top-to-toe Balenciaga, opting for a shimmering oversized faux fur coat in silver which she’s worn before (we love an outfit repeating queen) with a matching equally sparkly wrap-around dress and a pair of metallic pair over-the-knee pointed boots. Meanwhile, Davidson, a fan of low-key street style, wore a white T-shirt with a blue check long-sleeve shirt over top and a brown denim Carhartt jacket. He wore casual dark blue baggy jeans and sneakers and smiled as he looked down at the ground while holding his girlfriend’s hand.

Similar to another iconic duo, A$AP Rocky and Rihanna, Kardashian and Davidson’s differing personal styles proves you don’t have to dress alike to get along. Yes, Britney and Justin’s matching double denim (and the recent iteration thanks to West and Julia Fox) is cute, but so too is loving your SO despite the fact that you might not love – or at least wear – their wardrobe, too.

There’s something perhaps even more romantic about not giving your new partner an entire hotel room filled with designer clothes on the second date. An ‘I love you just the way you are’ moment, courtesy of Skete ahead of Valentine’s Day. We truly do love to see it.
