When Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson were first rumoured to be dating, it was one of the biggest shocks in recent pop culture memory. Though at first, many bet on the fact that the relationship wouldn’t last past three months (Davidson’s track record isn’t too strong past that point), the pair have continued to surpass expectations: They’ve gone Instagram official, Davidson has not one, not two, but three tattoos for his famous girlfriend – her fave: ‘My girl is a lawyer – and, apparently, they’re planning their big couple red carpet debut.
What red carpet is coming up that could play host to such a moment? None other than the biggest celebrity event of the year: the 2022 Met Gala.
After a couple of years of amendments – the event was cancelled in 2020 and was held in September last year – the Met Gala is finally making its post-pandemic return to the first Monday in May: May 2nd. Both Kardashian and Davidson have, as usual, been invited to the event separately, but are reportedly thinking of instead attending as a couple.
“Kim has been invited to the Met Gala and wants nothing more than for Pete to go with her as her date,” a source told Hollywood Life. “They were both invited by Anna [Wintour] separately, as they have been in the past.”
They added, “Kim and Pete are ready to make their grand debut as a couple and they feel that the Met Gala is the perfect place to do it.”
Of course, Kardashian has “already started to think about what she is going to wear and what she wants him to wear,” too. Could we be getting an A$AP Rocky and Rihanna matching couple moment?
While we don’t know what they are wearing yet, we do know what they’re not: “[Pete will] not be wearing a dress this year as he did to the Met Gala in 2021,” the source said, adding that (unlike last year) Kim “is not going to cover up her face,” either.
“This is Kim’s favourite night of the entire year,” they noted. “She cannot wait to show him her ultra-glamorous side.”
