Kim Kardashian is currently studying law, while also potentially being subject to a lawsuit of her own.
Some of the SKIMS founder’s staff have allegedly threatened legal action for “unreasonable behaviour,” mere months after members from Kanye West’s Sunday Service took the musician to court for similar claims.
“There’s apparently a potential lawsuit in the works against Kim involving multiple employees,” a source told The Sun, adding those involved are “believed to be domestic workers employed at [Kardashian’s] home who allegedly may have been misclassified as independent contractors instead of employees.”
According to the source, a selection of the staff members who are looking into taking legal action are “domestic workers” who may be underage.
“If minors were employed and worked more than the maximum limit set by law, then there may be a case of child labour violations,” they said.
Kardashian’s former husband, Kanye West, was recently facing a similar legal battle after claims he not only mistreated staff, but allegedly failed to pay up to 1,000 performers and stage crew during his Sunday Service performances.
According to the Daily Mail, the allegations stem from a November 2019 performance at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, where staff claim West “violated strict employment laws… failed to pay hundreds of employees, or give them overtime, meal and rest breaks.” These two lawsuits could leave the rapper with $30 million USD in damages to pay.
Neither Kardashian or West, who filed for divorce earlier this year, have commented on the allegations against them.
After months of rumours about the state of their marriage, in February, Kardashian officially filed a petition for divorce, asking for joint legal and physical custody of their four kids, North, seven, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and Psalm, two. In April, West responded to the divorce papers, also seeking joint custody.
The former couple, who were together for eight years, were reportedly not on speaking terms when they submitted the divorce paperwork, but earlier this week, Kardashian hinted things could be more amicable.
On Instagram, the 40-year-old shared a photo of her and West’s son, Saint, noting in the caption how stylish he looks. Fans quickly noted the five-year-old is wearing shoes by West’s fashion label, Yeezy.
