Kim Kardashian and Kanye West recently moved into the Los Angeles mansion they’ve been renovating for literally years, and they’ve set some security ground rules.

As TMZ reports, the couple will not be keeping any jewellery on the premises in an effort to deter a repeat of the traumatic October 2016 robbery Kim endured in Paris.

A source tells the website that Kim now only owns a few pieces of high-end bling, and that they are stored at an off-site location with round-the-clock security.

The insider also revealed that she plans to wear mostly fake or replica jewellery from now on, and if she wears valuable pieces to an event supplied by a jewellery company or stylist, the jewellery won’t be brought to the home but instead given to her at another location just prior to the event.

The couple have also reportedly invested a lot of time and money into their new home’s security – it’s protected by guards 24/7 and there’s an elaborate system of cameras and alarms.

It’s not surprising the couple are taking every length to protect their family, especially since they’re set to welcome their third child via surrogacy this month.

Kim was left traumatised after robbers gained access to her Paris apartment in October 2016, tying her up, putting a gun to her head and making off with millions of dollars’ worth of jewellery.

A photo Kim shared on social media days before the robbery.

Describing the incident when she appeared on The Ellen Show, Kim recalled how she said a prayer and believed she would be killed.

“Automatically, your stomach drops. It’s a feeling you can’t even explain. Like, I knew that was it for me. I said a prayer, like, ‘I know I’m going to heaven. I hope my kids are OK, and my husband,”” she said, breaking down in tears.

An investigation by the French courts determined most of the pieces had been melted down and then sold, as selling them as they were would be too obvious.

At least 17 people have faced court charged with being involved with the crime. Kim testified against the robbers, and the case is still ongoing.
