If you’ve been on social media for even a minute lately, you’ll know Kylie Jenner’s 19th birthday was celebrated in style at a plush, Airbnb-listed property on the idyllic Atlantic island nation Turks and Caicos – assumedly for free in exchange for the deluge of Instagram and Snapchat updates serving as PR.

Because Kim Kardashian and Kanye West refuse to be outdone by a teenager (never forget who made you, Kylie), Kimye are trying to get Airbnb to put them up in an apartment in New York City where they’ll stay for several months for Fashion Week and then as a base for Yeezy’s Saint Pablo tour, Page Six reports.

“The plan would be for Kimye to live there for a few months for free, and Kim will post on social media about the apartment, like her sisters did from Turks and Caicos,” an insider said. “Airbnb would pick up the tab for the rent.”

Apparently reps for the couple have checked out several lavish penthouses to see if they’re fit for the Kardashian Wests, some worth as much as $30 million.

There are a couple of issues, though.

“Not many of these sellers want to rent to Kimye, as having their names, and Airbnb, attached to such a luxury property won’t help a sale,” a source said. “It isn’t attractive to high-end buyers. Plus, Airbnb is only offering a little more than $150,000 for the entire stay, when most of these places rent for [more than] $100K a month.”

With Kanye recently revealing that he’s $53 million in debt, I guess they’ve got to save a little where they can. Life is expensive, you know?
