Kim Kardashian is the new owner of an iconic and historic piece of jewellery.
As TMZ reports, Kardashian has purchased a Cartier watch that once belonged to Jackie Kennedy, bidding on it anonymously at a Christie’s auction.
Kim spent AUD $500,000 on the Cartier timepiece, a lot more than the AUD $150,000 the auctioneers believed the item would sell for.

The watch is engraved with the date February 23 1963, nine months before President John F. Kennedy was assassinated with Jackie at his side.
Kim’s decision to spend half a million dollars on a watch seems at odds with comments she’s made and the low-key image she’s attempted to portray since she was robbed of her jewellery at gunpoint in Paris last year.
Speaking on The Ellen Show, she said that she’d been “materialistic” before the robbery, but now she doesn’t “care about that stuff anymore.”
“I truly don’t know if I’d ever feel comfortable [wearing expensive jewellery again],” Kim said.
“My whole life has changed in terms of how I travel and what security.”
It’s not known if Kim plans to wear the watch or if it’s more of a keepsake.
