According to a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, it wasn’t at all Khloe Kardashian’s idea to appear on the ill-fated Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s spin-off Khloe & Lamar. She says it was all Lamar’s idea to document a short-series about their newly-wed marriage and she only obliged because she loved him.

“I never wanted to do the show… my ex-husband did,” Kardashian said. “He sold it to E!, and I let it happen because I wanted him to be happy. I was the one who canceled it. It was way too much.”

The series only ran for two seasons and – just like Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey could have told them –  the marriage wasn’t to last either. In 2015, Odom was hospitalized for a near fatal drug overdose at a Nevada brothel. The network took cues from Kardashian to see how she wanted to deal with it.

“We deferred to Khloe on what she was comfortable with, because someone’s life was hanging in the balance and that’s someone is a hero to a lot of young people,” said Jeff Jenkins, a co-president at the Bunim/Murray production studio. “It wasn’t necessary to go stick a camera in Lamar’s face while he’s on death’s door in the hospital. It was just too much, so I guess, in a way, there is a line.”

Kardashian is now dating fellow basketball star Tristan Thompson.
