Three new men have accused Kevin Spacey of sexual harassment and assault in London signalling Scotland Yard to open investigations into the happenings, the earliest in 1996.
The new allegations were first reported by TMZ. The publication says Metropolitan Police confirmed a man made a statement to authorities in April concerning a sexual encounter in Westminster in 1996. Two other men had reportedly already come forward in February – one stating he was the victim of sexual assault in Gloucester and the other in Lambeth in 2008.
Police in London were already investigating three other incidences which involved Spacey.
The news comes as Australian actor Guy Pearce gave an interesting interview with Andrew Denton overnight. When Denton asked what it was like to work on set with Spacey on the 1997 film L.A. Confidential, Pearce appeared cagey and uncomfortable. “Yeah… yeah. Tough one to talk about at the moment. Yep,” Pearce said, pausing. “Um, amazing actor, incredible actor. Um… Slightly difficult time with Kevin. Yeah. He’s, he’s a handsy guy.”
“Thankfully I was 29 and not 14,” he continued.
The Oscar winning actor was outed by actor Anthony Rapp on October 30 as the latter accused Spacey of sexually assaulting him when he was just 14-years-old. “I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago,” Spacey responded in a statement on Twitter. “But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behaviour, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.” He then used the opportunity to clarify his sexual orientation.
More allegations began to stack up against the actor forcing Netflix – the streaming giant who released Spacey’s bread and butter House Of Cards – officially severed ties with him and cancelled the show. They also halted production on Spacey’s new film Gore – a look into the life of Gore Vidal which was being shot just weeks prior in Ravello in Italy.
All The Money In The World director Ridley Scott then ended Spacey when he shocked the world by re-shooting and replacing all of Spacey’s scenes in the film, a biopic into the life of oil tycoon J Paul Getty. Christopher Plummer was the new lead.
