Move over Joe Exotic, there’s a new Tiger King in town (and a much cooler one at that). Everyone’s favourite tiger-wielding wares are now available at their own Australian jungle, as French fashion brand Kenzo opens its first ever retail store in Australia.
Located at retail mecca, Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne, the concept store is the Australian extension of its all-immersive brand experience for customers. Featuring Kenzo’s collections for both men and women ready-to-wear, accessories, footwear and kids wear, the new 120 m2 store has been fitted with Kenzo’s latest approach to retail and champions the brand’s continued ethos of revitalisation.
With a façade covered by blue marble and its updated brand logo, the new Melbourne store distills the brand’s contagious freedom and daring, borderless fashion into a singular and effortless shopping experience.
Reflective of its street aesthetic, a medley of raw materials such as concrete, white cement and mirror merge gloriously, while anodised aluminium and dark grey tones provide the perfect contrast to stark white walls, making its already bold, polychrome merchandise pop even more. Grids of fluorescent tube lighting hang overhead, adding another level of geometric verve to the space.
Since first introducing Paris to Japanese fashion in 1970, Kenzo Takada’s Kenzo has cultivated and reinterpreted wardrobe essentials with a ferocious bent and French refinement for half a century. Under the helm of new artistic director, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, the fashion house continues to celebrate nature and cultural diversity though its mix of vibrant prints, exuberant palette, and playful energy, and of course, its signature tiger face embroidery.
It may be a jungle out there, but inside Chadstone Shopping Centre, Kenzo’s jungle is the place to be.
