While the proverbial olive branch was erected by one Katy Perry in the most public of ways (via a Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden), Taylor Swift is not biting. And as long as Swish Swish remains on the charts, why would she? It is after all Perry’s prerogative to use the ongoing years-long feud to press her, er, “interesting” new music.

Someone asked me of late if anybody really cares if Perry is fighting with Swift and truth be told, everybody is just tired of hearing about it. We’re in a stalemate, in limbo, and as we look around at a crumbling political world, for what are these two women really fighting about?

One man though who is having none of the beef is rapper Kendrick Lamar who lent a couple of verses to the 2015 remix of Swift’s Bad Blood, which is purportedly written about Perry. Surely he must have had intel on the true meaning behind those lyrics. But in a new interview with Rolling Stone, Lamar just brushed off the question about said fight and would very much like to excluded from this narrative. “No, I wasn’t aware of that, bro,” he told the interviewer through laughter. “That’s a great question. No! On the record, no. Which makes it even more funny now, for sure. That’s far beyond my concern. I have to stay away from that, for sure. That’s some real beef.”

Speaking out about why he hasn’t been very vocal about Donald Trump, Lamar muses the same sentiment. “I mean, it’s like beating a dead horse,” he said. “We already know what it is. Are we gonna keep talking about it or are we gonna take action? You just get to a point where you’re tired of talking about it. It weighs you down and it drains your energy when you’re speaking about something or someone that’s completely ridiculous. On the record [DAMN.], I made an action to not speak about what’s going on in the world or the places they put us in. Speak on self; reflection of self first. That’s where the initial change will start from.”

Perry. Swift. Take note.
