There’s a good reason not to miss the start of the 2018 Grammy Awards this year.
Kendrick Lamar has been announced as the opening act, Grammys officials confirmed overnight.
The Humble rapper will be joined on stage by U2, as well as comedian Dave Chapelle.
The other performers confirmed to be taking to the Grammys stage are Miley Cyrus, DJ Khaled, Childish Gambino, Elton John, Kesha, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Sam Smith and Pink.
Lamar is one of the most nominated artists in a year in which rap and R&B artists dominated the nominations.
He’s up for seven awards, just shy of Jay-Z who’s nominated for eight, the most of any artist.
Pop/R&B artist Bruno Mars trails Jay Z and Kendrick with six nods.
The Album of the Year category is dominated by rappers and men, with Lorde the only female nominee for her 2017 album Melodrama.
The Grammys are being held in New York City on Sunday night local time (the red carpet broadcast will begin around 9.30AM Monday AEST).
