Don’t let the festive frost, Christmas decorations and merry demeanour fool you. Cuffing season is in full swing, but Breakup Season™ is still lurking in the shadows ready to claim its next couple.
With less than two weeks until the end of the year, 2023 is still proving to wreak havoc on relationships as reports emerge claiming Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny have broken up.
If these are to be believed, the supermodel and musician join a legion of Hollywood A-listers, including Bella Hadid, Sophie Turner, Ariana Grande, Rosalía and even Britney Spears, who have split from their significant others in less than a 12-month window.
The news began circulating after stories written by tabloid publications seemed to “confirm” the rumours. Insiders claiming to be close to the former pair confirmed to several entertainment sites that the couple have been single for a few weeks.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, a source claimed “things slowly started to fizzle out” with their respective schedule demands keeping them from “setting down”.
“They both knew going into this that it likely wouldn’t be a forever type of relationship and that was mutually understood from the get-go,” the source said of their whirlwind romance. “They have crazy busy schedules and know they’re still young and have a lot more to experience individually before settling down,” they added.
Jenner and Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, first sparked dating rumours in February after being spotted on a double date with Hailey and Justin Bieber. Come May, the pair were regularly sighted together, including those infamous images of them horseback riding and court-side appearances at NBA games.
The pair made their public debut at the Met Gala after-party and were reportedly getting quite close. Jenner travelled to Ocasio’s family home in Puerto Rico where the viral video of the rapper telling the 818 Tequila founder to “be careful” of “mosquitos” was filmed.
In September, Jenner and Ocasio cemented their status as a bona fide fashion couple by appearing in Gucci’s Valigeria luggage campaign. They were last seen together in October attending the Saturday Night Live after-party in New York.
Neither party has addressed their newfound singledom, but in the era of innocuous break ups—See: both Meryl Streep and Jada Pinkett Smith confirming they’ve been secretly separated from their respective husbands for over six years—it’s clear they won’t break their silence anytime soon. All this to say; 2024, please be kind.
