It’s a day of Hollywood baby announcements. Just hours after Blakey Lively and Ryan Reynolds announced their third pregnancy in New York, fellow actress Keira Knightley debuted a very chic baby bump in Paris.
Not to be mistaken with croissant over-indulgence, Knightley was radiant as ever as she arrived at Ritz Paris – bump in tow – for a suitably stylish evening hosted by Chanel. Hand in hand with husband James Righton as she crossed the cobblestones of the Place Vendôme, Knightley showed off her baby bump in an empire waist, Grecian Chanel gown which sat elegantly off her shoulders. Touching her stomach through swathes of buttery silk chiffon, Knightley was all smiles.
This is the second child for the couple, who in 2015 welcomed a baby girl, Edie Knightley Righton. Last year, the Atonement star spoke openly to Harper’s Bazaar about motherhood and its impact on her career. “There’s that sense of, like, I don’t give a f–k,” she joked. “Once you’ve had that whole experience of leaking breasts everywhere and the messiness of it—there’s no control, it’s animalistic. I feel that in a funny way with acting it sort of helps; there is no embarrassment any more.”
She also penned a powerful albeit controversial essay about childhood, in which she critiqued the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, for setting unrealistic expectations for women after giving birth. In the essay titled “The Weaker Sex”, she spoke openly about postpartum, saying she recalls the “the s***, the vomit, the blood, the stitches. I remember my battleground. Your battleground and life pulsating. Surviving. And I am the weaker sex?”
