Her new album Witness might not have impressed the critics, but Katy Perry is still breaking records.
Katy Perry has become the first person to reach 100 million followers on Twitter, the social media platform announced on Friday.
Upon hearing the news, Perry tweeted “Thank you, @Twitter, for always giving me an opportunity to have a voice!”
The milestone is a testament to Katy’s popularity and relevance at a time when she could certainly use a confidence boost: her new album is not doing as well as she might have hoped.
Despite the fact it climbed straight to the top of the iTunes chart upon its release, it seems only Katy’s die-hard fans are really enjoying it. Critics have described it as a “spectacular failure” and “cringe-worthy”, and while we wouldn’t go that far, it certainly lacks the on-repeat factor Teenage Dream and Prism had.
