It was a big night for the women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At last night’s MTV Movie & TV Awards, Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson received the inexplicable “Generation Award,” as announced last week. But the show really belonged to WandaVision, which I like to think of as Marvel’s Disney+ show that didn’t make me feel like a traumatised 7-year-old baby gay being forced to choose a hyper-militarised action figure from the “boys” aisle at the toy store. The series picked up four trophies, the most any show or film received this year, and, more importantly, stars Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn seemed to be having an absolute blast.

The duo’s airborne, CGI magic heavy battle in WandaVision’s finale earned them a win for “Best Fight,” and Hahn made sure to shout out their stunt doubles for really making the action sequences so compelling.

Hahn and Olsen each picked up an additional award for their own performances. “This is my childhood, people,” Hahn said while accepting the award for “Best Villain.” (Because contrary to rampant online fan theories, it really was Agatha all along.) “This really, really is the bee’s knees! I can’t tell you!” She also talked about discovering her inner wicked witch and pointed out that “throughout history, a witch has just been a woman who is so scary because she stands in her own frickin’ power” and called upon all the witches out there to use their power for good.

Meanwhile, Olsen won a tub of brass popcorn for “Best Performance,” shouting out Marvel fans. “I hope we moved you, I hope we entertained you!” I mean, obviously, not nearly as compelling, but she’s still certifiably charming, and if you had to be on a stage without Kathryn Hahn, you’d probably be like, “Let me wrap this up real quick so I can go continue hanging out with Kathryn Hahn” as well!

Olsen also delivered a choice throwback in her acceptance speech for “Best Show,” quoting Des’ree’s 1994 hit “You Gotta Be.” “You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold, you gotta be wiser / You gotta be hard, you gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger / You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm, you gotta stay together / All I know, all I know is love will save the day!” I will, of course, be adding that track to all of my summer playlists and encourage you all to do so as well.

Finally, I can’t stop watching this clip of Hahn and Olsen posing for photos backstage with their four awards. They both look incredible, they genuinely seem to be delighted to be hanging out together, they’re making each other laugh, they seem to be having the time of their lives. Seriously, who needs drunk Oscar winners at the Golden Globes when we have this?
