Kim’s Met Gala dress this year was one for the ages, but there’s a whole story behind it that we weren’t privy to — until now.

Apparently hubby Kanye West, who has been embracing his faith more than ever in recent times, was not a fan of how tight and revealing the garment was.

On Sunday night’s episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians we saw how an argument between the couple nearly derailed one of Kim’s biggest ever fashion moments.

‘I just made this transition from being a rapper, looking at all these girls, looking at my wife,’ the 42-year-old rapper said during Kim’s final fitting for the corseted, plunging Thierry Mugler number.  ‘Like, ”Oh, my girl needs to be like the other girls, showing her body off”.’

‘I didn’t realise that that was affecting my soul and my spirit as someone that’s married and loved, and the father of now, what—about to be four kids?,’ Kanye said.

Kim wasn’t having it.

‘So the night before the Met, you’re gonna come in here and say that you’re not into a corset bust?’ Kim asked. ‘I’m getting really bad anxiety. What are you talking about?’

‘I don’t need any more negative energy for you to now say that you’re not into me in a tight dress,’ she said.

“You are my wife, and it affects me when pictures are too sexy,’ Kanye replied.

‘You built me up to be this sexy person and confidence and all this stuff,’ Kim retorted.

‘And just because you’re on a journey and you’re on a transformation doesn’t mean that I’m in the same spot with you.’

BOOM. This was Kim’s moment, dammit, paired with the fact that she’d finally landed her coveted solo US Vogue cover, for the issue accompanying the Met Gala, no less.

No one, not Kanye, not her baby daughter Psalm who was due to arrive by surrogate at any moment — was going to stand in her way.

Not even the fact that it sounded like the world’s most uncomfortable outfit, one that was literally impossible to pee in (Kim talked about how she’d have to just urinate and let her sister wipe her leg) could prevent her from making this work.

It took twenty minutes to put the dress on and required an assistant to help lift Kimmy’s famous butt into the dress. Once in it, it felt like “you’re doing a crunch and you can’t get out of it” she said, also comparing the dress to a “prickly cactus” thanks to the beads that poked against her skin.

No one could argue that the results were extraordinary, however — the corset gave Kim an impossibly small waist, created a knockout decolletage and generally made her look ever more superhuman than normal.

Elsewhere in the action-packed episode, Kim hosted her own “zen and calming” baby shower at home with guests including Paris Hilton, Chrissy Teigen and Sia, and Kim agreed to star in Paris’ latest music video.
