Since they were first rumoured to be dating in December after being captured by paparazzi on the most LA date ever: attending a yoga class, Austin Butler and Kaia Gerber have made no secret of their relationship. Just three months in, they attended their first fashion event together hand-in-hand, then in May they posed for photos on the Met Gala red carpet. A few months later, they went viral when, at Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Butler’s Elvis film, they passionately kissed amid a sea of photographers.
Gerber has publicly spoken about wanting to transition from modelling, which she naturally was primed for given her supermodel mother’s genes, over to her boyfriend’s field of acting. After making her on-screen debut in 2016’s Sisters Cities and appearing in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story last year, she was confirmed in April to be joining the cast of Bottoms, a queer high school comedy from the duo behind Shiva Baby. Butler, who’s been garnering Oscars buzz for his latest role, is likely showing his girlfriend the ropes and giving her industry tips, which she’s reciprocating for his latest cover shoot.
For the cover shoot of V-Man’s Fall/Winter 2022 issue, Butler is seen in one black and white image facing away from the camera. In the image, he peeks over his shoulder while wearing a black cut-off tank top and leather pants, similar to Elvis Presley’s signature rock and roll getup. His messy blonde hair is also styled similarly to Elvis and he holds his hand on his belt buckle.
But despite Butler doing his modelling best, the star of the photo is his girlfriend, who wraps her arms around his neck from out of shot. Gerber’s head and body are purposely obscured from view in the photo, but it’s clearly and purposefully her in the image with her unique wrist tattoo (the words “I know” with a line through them) in full view of the camera.
This marks the first photo shoot this ridiculously good looking pair have been in together. But if their current trajectory is anything to go by, it surely won’t be the last.
