It’s as if New York Fashion Week was timed to ensure Kaia Gerber – who turned 16 just seven days ago – was eligible to make the runway cut. The daughter of 90s supermodel (and the O.G. Pepsi advocate) Cindy Crawford made her NYFW debut for Calvin Klein before opening for Alexander Wang at Lafayette St in NoLita alongside millennial heavyweights Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid overnight.

The model will for certain be the breakout star of this season’s shows, a position that was pre-empted by Marc Jacobs who signed Gerber on as the face of his beauty line when the teenager was just 14-years-old. With new dark, cascading hair the model really is the spitting image of her famous mum. “I’ve always thought that Alex’s group [of models and friends] was the coolest,” she said in a recent interview. “It’s crazy to think that I’m about to walk his show!”

Covering Teen Vogue recently, Gerber touched on modelling’s biggest currency: Instagram. “I now reach so many people, and it’s hard for them to know what is real,” she explained. “I don’t take any platform I have lightly. It’s so important to send a good message. Everyone expects you to be on it all the time, but social media is just everyone’s best version of themselves. I try and give people a truer depicting of who I am.”

Both mother and daughter reportedly stand at 1.75m.
