The news that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are set to divorce shouldn’t have anything to do with Justin Theroux, but it does. Last week his wife Jennifer Aniston was swiftly dragged into the narrative around the split even though she and Pitt broke up over a decade ago – her laughing face was printed on the cover of the New York Post.

The actor, screenwriter and director might have been able to avoid publically discussing all this if it wasn’t for the fact he’s currently doing publicity ahead of one of the most anticipated films of the year, The Girl On The Train. And so Theroux, who married Aniston in 2015 was asked for his thoughts on the situation by Business Insider on Tuesday.

He described Jennifer’s involuntary involvement in the chaos as “nonsense”, and expressed his sympathy for Brad and Angelina’s six children.

“As a child of divorce, all I can say is that’s terrible news for those children, and that’s all you can really say,” he said. “It’s boring to sort of comment on anything else. People are having a bad time — that’s horrible.”

The Girl On The Train also stars Emily Blunt and is out next week – which means only one more week of fielding questions about the Brangelina split for Justin.
