Julia Fox and Kanye West’s relationship is the literal definition of going from zero to 100. The pair met on New Year’s Eve, went on two dates, then released a photoshoot to the world which coincided with Fox doing a mini-press run. The whole thing feels like PR stunt meets performance art meets something to do with Balenciaga. But on the latest episode of her podcast, named Forbidden Fruits, Fox insisted her and West’s connection is the real deal.

In a conversation with her co-host, Niki Takesh, Fox said the internet’s response to her and West dating, as well as her previous connections to both his ex-wife Kim Kardashian (she modelled Kardashian’s SKIMS line last year), and Kardashian’s current boyfriend Pete Davidson (who Fox modelled alongside for a magazine cover) “funny.”

Recognising the connections between the foursome, Fox said it is “all love” and “really not that serious,” before adding, “It is funny to see where people go with their conspiracy theories.” The actress went on to theorise that part of the reason the public can’t get enough of the situation is “Because it’s meta.” (I’m going to hazard a guess that another reason is the restaurant and hotel photoshoots and multiple interviews).

“We were all connected, like even prior. You know what I mean?” she added. “… We’re all artists.”

Though West and Fox only met two weeks ago, Fox says it came as no surprise to people who know them both that they would click.  “I feel like, to the people who know us both personally, like all the people that we have in common, like friends in common, have texted me like, ‘Oh my God, this makes so much sense,’ ” she explained.

When Takesh said she had a friend question if Fox and West’s romance is a “PR stunt,” Fox replied, “There’s always people that think every single celebrity scandal is a setup. I personally don’t. She added, “Listen, for right now, I’m just living in the moment and I don’t have any expectations — there’s no labels, none of that. It’s just people that make each other feel better.”

Following the episode airing, Fox and West were photographed kissing in L.A. after having dinner with a random assortment of celebrities including Madonna, Antonio Brown and Floyd Mayweather. For the night, Fox wore a long-sleeve leather crop top, matching gloves, and low-rise leather pants. Her torso was on full display and she held a—you guessed it—Balenciaga bag. Whatever’s going on here, Balenciaga’s public relations person deserves a raise.
