Recently interviewing with the New York Times, John Mayer appears his aloof self. With a new album out this month, the 39-year-old musician – and self-described reformed bad-boy – spoke about one track in particular, titled Still Feel Like Your Man.

Of course the tabloids have been sent into a spin questioning which famous lady the song is about (Jennifer Aniston, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry) but since he admits to not going out and partying much since his break-up with the latter, it’s obvious the song is about Perry.

“Who else would I be thinking about?,” he asked the interviewer. “And by the way, it’s a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it’s like, give me this, people.”

A testament maybe and also good timing with Perry breaking up with boyfriends of eleven months Orlando Bloom just recently. He also did have this quote to say: “I’m a young guy. I like girls. I want girls to like me. I want to make music and be thought of as attractive.” It kind of doesn’t spell that Mayer has grown-up, no matter what context it’s in, right?

The singer also talked about turning 40 and the absence of someone in his life to help him celebrate, something Perry did for Bloom recently for his 40th. “I wish there was somebody to throw me the 40th…I want the baby with the protective earphones. I’m right on time for my career, and I’m running late for my life.”
