Taylor Swift might have labelled one of her ex-boyfriends as “the smallest man who ever lived” in her recently released eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, but British actor Joe Alwyn is making it clear that he doesn’t fit that epithet.

A week after the secret double album was made public, sources from Alwyn’s camp have come forward to share an update. Specifically, how he is doing in the 365 days since their six-year relationship came to an abrupt end.

“He’s dating and happy,” an insider with intel revealed. They added that Alwyn has “moved on” from the songstress and “certainly doesn’t talk poorly about her,” noting that he is “focused on work”. The anonymous person in the known shared that Alwyn was in love with Swift but their relationship “just didn’t work out.”

It is inferred that this is partially due to his strained relationship with fame: “Joe loves acting, but can’t stand the attention that comes with it. He’s not comfortable in the spotlight.” At the time of their split in April 2023, a source confirmed that their romance fractured partly due to “differences in their personalities”.

Despite Alwyn wanting to keep his personal life private, several statements about the former couple have been released since the record dropped. One source came forward to claim that Alwyn and Swift are no longer “in touch”, but try to “be respectful of one another.”

The emotionally charged fifth track, “So Long, London” seemingly presents Swift’s perspective of the breakup, specifically the lyric, “I’m pissed off you let me give you all that youth for free”.

Both Alwyn and Swift will be in France in May, though on different sides of the country. Swift will resume her billion-dollar-grossing Eras Tour in Paris while Alwyn will attend the prestigious Cannes Film Festival on the Côte d’Azur to premiere his latest project, Yogo Lanthimos’ Kinds Of Kindness.
