Baby said yes! According to “multiple sources” for Life & Style, Joe Alwyn and Taylor Swift are reportedly engaged. The couple who have been dating for five years first sparked rumours of an engagement in mid-January after taking a three-day trip to Cornwall, England. An insider for The Sun said at the time, “things are getting more serious and people think an engagement could be on the cards.”
“That could explain such a long journey to a specific place,” the source told the outlet. “Taylor is keeping her cards close to her chest, but they’re certainly very happy and enjoying their time together.”
It comes as no surprise that we’re hearing from it insiders first, rather than directly from the stars as they’re known to be extremely private.
“I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private, and that has now sunk in for people … but I really prefer to talk about work,” Alwyn said in a 2018 interview.
The 30-year-old English actor is preparing to appear in Sally Rooney’s on-screen book adaption of Conversations with Friends. In an interview last week to promote the series he shared a rare comment about his relationship.
“I think people can do what they want and makes them happy,” the actor said in early February. “I’m obviously happy in a monogamous relationship.”
The pair first linked in October 2016 and have seemed pretty inseparable since. “I think that in knowing him and being in the relationship I am in now,” Taylor Swift said in a Rolling Stone interview on her relationship, “I have definitely made decisions that have made my life feel more like a real life and less like just a storyline to be commented on in tabloids.”
