After announcing back in August last year that she was launching her own skincare range, it was a very excited lunchtime crowd that gathered for the official unveiling of Jessica Gomes’ Equal Beauty collection at David Jones Bourke St Mall in Melbourne today.

In development for three years, Gomes was aglow as she presented the new range with Shine By Three blogger Margaret Zhang – who shot Gomez for the first campaign for the brand. Developed out of a passion to create a skincare line that reflects her own values and skincare needs, the range features five products that are heavily focused on hydration and protection.

Consisting of the Cleansing Cloth Hydra Glow, Moisture Eye Veil Hydranti-puff,  Moisture Veil Hydralift + Hydrafirm, Super Mist Polluscreen + Moisturelock, and Super Serum Hydrantioxidant, the skincare line is for everyone – whatever their gender, whatever their nationality. With strong leanings on her Australian heritage when sourcing the active ingredients, Gomes has also tapped into the next-gen mask technology coming out of Japan and Korea.

Explaining more about the background ethos behind the brand, Gomes reveals: “I’ve come to learn that beauty is less about how others perceive you and more about how you perceive yourself and how you carry yourself. To me, the most beautiful are those with confidence, strength and a sense of self.

“The best advice I ever received was to learn to love and accept yourself. It sounds simple but can be challenging, if you can do this, then you can enter the world in a positive way. Nothing can stop you. You can do anything. Beauty starts on the inside. It’s about how you feel and loving yourself. Embrace who you are and where you come from. It’s been said that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength. I believe that!”
The Equal Beauty range is stocked exclusively in David Jones.
