It’s been a week of celebration and public declarations of love for everyone’s favourite celebrity couple Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, AKA J-Rod.

After Rodriguez threw an epic birthday party for Lopez’s 50th, which included an energetic dancefloor session most twenty-something-year-olds wouldn’t be able to keep up with, as A-Rod turned 44, Lopez turned the spotlight on him – literally.

In a fan video shared on social media from her Friday night concert in Miami, J-Lo is seen halting the show mid-performance and signalling for an enormous New York Yankees cake to be brought out onto the stage (in case you’re too young to possess this general knowledge, Rodriguez was once a star professional baseball player).

Trailing the cake are both Lopez and Rodriguez’s kids, and then the man himself, A-Rod. That’s when J-Lo instructs the entire stadium to shout “Happy Birthday A-Rod”. Then, because she is great and powerful, Lopez gets the crowd to sing happy birthday. This was of course followed by several kisses. Oh, you two.

Lopez shared a video of the moment on Instagram, captioning the post:

“Celebrating you today and everyday my love… you are one of a kind, my hurricane and my calm in the middle of the storm…thank you for being such a beautiful light in my life… wishing you the most beautiful birthday ever!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY 13!!!”

In case you’re confused, ’13’ was A-Rod’s Yankees jersey number. Just to confirm: he is not 13 years old.

It seems J-Lo felt the need to give her fiancé something more than a card and a kiss on the cheek as he turned 44, given her epic 50th celebration earlier in the week.

The party was held at Gloria Estafan’s Miami mansion on Wednesday night, and included a fireworks display, DJ Khaled and Fat Joe on the decks, a performance by Ashanti and a cake worth a reported $10,000.

J-Lo and A-Rod: they do not do things in halves.
