Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t always respond to her critics, but a controversy about her outfit choice at a Red Sparrow publicity event in Paris this week clearly got under her skin.

Lawrence hit back on Facebook overnight after her social media accounts were inundated with comments from people who noticed she wore a tiny dress in near-freezing temperatures, while her male co-stars bundled up in coats and scarves.

“Wow. I don’t really know where to get started on this ‘Jennifer Lawrence wearing a revealing dress in the cold’ controversy,” she began.

“This is not only utterly ridiculous; I am extremely offended. That Versace dress was fabulous, you think I’m going to cover that gorgeous dress up with a coat and a scarf?” she wrote.

“I was outside for five minutes. I would have stood in the snow for that dress because I love fashion and that was my choice.

“This is sexist, this is ridiculous, this is not feminism,” Lawrence continued.

“Overreacting about everything someone says or does, creating controversy over silly innocuous things such as what I choose to wear or not wear, is not moving us forward. It’s creating silly distractions from real issues. Get a grip people. Everything you see me wear is my choice. And if I want to be cold THATS MY CHOICE TOO!”

It’s not the first controversy Jennifer has found herself in this week – she was slammed by British television viewers for her apparently ‘rude’ behaviour at the BAFTAs – she later explained a “personal joke” had been misinterpreted.

Chill, everyone.
