Kate Young’s new YouTube series entitled Hello Fashion is one of the best things to happen in fashion commentary since Naomi Campbell’s No Filter With Naomi. The celebrity stylist dishes on all things fashion from a first-hand perspective and schools us on the tactical process that is styling A-listers Dakota Johnson, Selena Gomez, and Margot Robbie (among others). In her most recent video, released on Tuesday, April 27, Young gives us a look inside the suitcase she brings with her to red carpets, editorial shoots, and more major projects. Ahead, we share five of the items that caught our eye.
skims bodysuits
“The reason I use these is because clothes lay really beautiful over top of them,” Young explains of Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand. “I don’t think people need to wear this kind of thing every day. But when I want my clothes to look really good, I always use these.”
steel spring clamps
On the set of photoshoots, Young loves to have these silicone-tipped clamps on hand. They allow her to cinch the back of a garment without creating holes in the fabric.
Heritage Store Aura Smudge Spray
This is, by far, the most out-there essential included in Young’s kit—but we respect it. “If the vibe is off, clean it up,” she jokes, adding that she likes it because it makes people relax and smells good.
A Ring Sizer
The expert says that her ring sizer is “bizarrely useful” because “nobody knows their ring size.” (Guilty).
a Leather Hole Puncher
Young includes a leather hole puncher (which she deems “one of her favourite tools”) to easily add extra holes to belts and shoe straps. “Often, [clients] like to wear their shoe straps a little tighter than normal,” she explains, “Especially if they have to walk across the stage.
