While hosting the American Music Awards, Gigi Hadid reimagined the ‘business at the front, party at the back,’ adage for the modern-day beauty buff. hnece we’re dubbing her feminine, sky-high look: ‘futuristic at the front, classic glamour at the back.’ Teased tall and brushed smooth, before tumbling down her back in cascade of golden curls, the look is set to inspire countless DIYs as we head into the party season. “For her red carpet look, Gigi was wearing a gorgeous white lace gown that had a sexy 70’s vibe, and we wanted her hair to reflect that too,” says hairstylist, Bryce Scarlett, who created Hadid’s modern romantic look for the night. “We took inspiration from Lauren Hutton and went for brushed back curls that would look glamorous, but still effortless.” Here are Scarlett’s steps for mastering the look yourself.

Step One “To get a lot of volume, I used the ghd air hairdryer and the ghd natural bristle radial brush, blowing out her hair up and away from her face.”
Step Two “Once it was dry, I sprayed some thickening spray and backcombed it through. Since we wanted big voluminous curls, I used the ghd curve soft curl tong to curl her hair. The one and a quarter inch barrel creates nice, bouncy curls, which was exactly what we were going for.”
Step Three “Once her hair was curled, I brushed her hair back to soften the look, giving it a more relaxed vibe. I teased the top for a little extra volume and used the ghd platinum stylerto touch it up and get rid of any fly-aways.”
Step Four “Finally, I set it all with hairspray and we were out the door for her big red carpet reveal.”
