Good evening and welcome to perhaps one of the most exciting shows on the fashion calendar. It’s no coincidence that the woman at the helm of the Dior house has scheduled her Fall Ready-To-Wear 2021 collection reveal on International Women’s Day; a fervent nod to everything Maria Grazia Chiuri is about. (The design house was initially planning on showing on March 4 but due to pandemic-related delays, the Paris schedule was extended.)
“My work is rooted in passion, study and a desire to be on the frontline, with my own interpretation and also my own personal way of living the extraordinary adventure of being a woman,” Chiuri told GRAZIA in September as a guest editor for our print edition. “Uniforms useful for facing the world day after day. Wearable statements that go to show our body is the first stage where activism plays out.”
Dior’s last offering was its Spring Summer 2021 tarot-inspired haute couture collection which saw Chiuri travel back a few centuries – to the Middle Ages to be exact. The clothes looked as if they had walked straight out of a Medieval Italian painting hung on the walls of the Borghese Gallery in Chiuri’s native Rome.
Dior Fall21 collection will show on March 8 2021 at 2.30pm Paris time/ 8.30am in New York and at 12.30pm Sydney time on the morning of March 9. GRAZIA’s contributing editor Grace O’Neill will have the show report over at the GRAZIA Gazette: The Fashion Week Edition directly after the show. You can watch the collection reveal below.
Not long now.
