Ask any skincare expert or dermatologist what their most critical piece of beauty advice and it’s always the same: wear sunscreen. Rain, hail or shine; wear sunscreen. And whilst most of us are diligent when it comes to wearing sunscreen daily, we often forget the ‘reapply every two hours’ part, particularly in winter when you’re not spending the day outdoors.

We get it, the idea of applying sunscreen after a meticulous makeup application can be daunting. But running out on your lunch break hours after your morning sunscreen application, or going for a morning walk, sans SPF does damage. Thankfully there are several options for reapplying sunscreen throughout the day without ruining your maquillage. Protect from all angles at all hours with our SPF picks below.

Invisible SPF Setting mist

Many SPF-spiked mists are also loaded with skin-loving ingredients, meaning you can refresh your makeup and improve your complexion with a dose of antioxidants and vitamins, while at the same time saving your skin from UVA and UVB rays. Just remember that a few spritzes won’t fulfill the recommended half a teaspoon of lotion for the face, neck and ears, so it won’t last as long.

Protective powders
High-tech SPF powders work in the same way as their standard-setting sisters with the added bonus of sun protection. Layer some over your makeup and reapply throughout the day taking your time to cover every exposed area and as it can be difficult to gauge how much is going on, be generous with your application. Bonus points for their anti-shine effects, which come in extra handy during summer.
