In a press release, Bartel shared, “when we launched Henne three years ago I always had hoped that one day we could show at AAFW. It is incredibly exciting and a very proud moment for us to be partnering with the festival to showcase a collection that is made for Her, a collection that can be intermixed and worn anywhere, anytime.”

The show itself, which was held at swanky Sydney watering hole Shell House, brought together the best of Melbourne’s masculine/urban aesthetic, with laid-back staples — think worn-in denim, soft knitwear and weekend-adjacent activewear.

The wearable label just makes sense, which is why the adjoining announcement that Henne will open its first boutique in Melbourne’s Greville Street next month.

“After a really challenging two years that we all lived through and experienced, we wanted this collection to reflect our appreciation of the present, to celebrate a sense of reliving and a sense to a return to occasion and really connecting with each other,” Bartel tells GRAZIA. “We designed signature knitwear, elevated set dressing, and high shine leather with a nod to really beautiful colours like lilac, butter and cloud which work beautifully against our winters colours that we use such as black, truffle and washed greys.”

Beauty, led by makeup artist Linda Jeffries and hairstylist Michael Brennan, was equally chic. Unlike the disco-esque looks we’ve seen thus far, Henne was polished and just ‘done’ enough. Skin was clean and lacquered with layers of glassy highlighter, while brows were kept bushy but groomed. The eyes were softly sculpted with shades of taupe, while the lower lash line was lined with white liner (whether it was a deliberate detail or trick to ensure model’s looked awake on day five is still up for discussion). And our favourite feature was the lip, painted in a delicious shade of milky chocolate brown.

Slightly ’90s but effortlessly cool, it’s a makeup look we’ll be calling on for inspiration all winter long.

Hair was sleek, and in some cases, scraped back in a nonchalant way to compliment the collection. Whether worn in a soft airy wave, or a tight spiky bun, the overall feeling was tactile, fluid and personalised to each model.
